Opportunity Summary

The Electra Vehicles team is looking for an individual to improve the mathematical models of batteries, ultracapacitors, and other energy storage technologies, as well as add additional energy storage units and their electrochemical characteristics to Electra's database of energy storage systems. In this position, you would be exposed to the latest developments in the energy storage industry, and will work directly with the technical leadership team at Electra. A background in battery modeling is a must for this position. Courtesy of the dynamic nature of being a high-tech startup, the responsibilities will likely extend beyond these primary tasks, as your skills would best suit the team. Passionate and experienced individuals who are personable and results-driven are ideal for this position.

Expertise & Skills

- Experience developing mathematical models or code to dynamically simulate energy storage characteristics

- Experienced with Python scripts and Amazon Web Service tools to support battery models

- Experience working with JSON and S3 databases

- Ability to lead tasks and meet deadlines Pursuing a technical bachelor's or master's degree


- Improve performance of existing battery discharge and degradation models

- Expand Electra Vehicles' energy storage database to include latest commercially available cells

- Ensure accuracy of and provide frequent updates to cell pricing data from Electra vendors

- Add additional cell modeling metrics to database to improve discharge and degradation models - Support with additional technical and business development tasks as needed


- Part-time, flexible hours

- Start: February 2019

- End: May 2019 with possibility to continue through August

- Rate: Negotiable
